According to the analysis of the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OEMV), based on statistical data from Customs and the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), exports of wine products surprised in a record month of March, which also accompanied the improvement already observed a month earlier. Although the comparison between the same month of this year and the previous one (start of the state of alarm in March 2020 and almost total blockage of sales and exports) was expected to be positive, and this was anticipated by Infovi in its estimates, the data now known show that not only has this been the case, but that it has even gone beyond what the sector itself had predicted.
On the basis of the year-on-year figures, it can be said that the level of sales in volume and value has almost fully recovered compared to a year earlier, or rather, a year after the start of the peak period of the Covid-19 pandemic, an assessment that is already quite positive in itself.
