EU plans wine tariffs in response to US measures
Brussels considers taxing US wine in retaliation to Trump's tariffs

The European Commission has included still and sparkling wine in its provisional list of US products that could be subject to tariffs from April. The move comes in response to US tariffs on sectors such as aluminium, steel and agriculture. The EU has drawn up a list of retaliatory tariffs worth 26 billion euros, including agri-food products, textiles and household appliances.
The European Wine Business Committee (CEEV) opposes the inclusion of wine in this trade dispute. Its president, Mauricio González-Gordon, warns that the tariffs will negatively affect the wine sector, generating uncertainty, layoffs and price increases. He therefore urges the EU to exclude wine from the final list, arguing that it should not be used as a bargaining chip in trade disputes unrelated to the sector.
